Being online today no longer feels optional because digital touches everything. We use it for our jobs, to pay bills, to apply for schools, to shop, to stay in touch and increasingly to manage our healthcare. Yet we know around 1 in 10 adults in Stockport aren’t online and 1 in 5 don’t have basic digital skills.
So we are encouraging the development of digital skills across Stockport with the aim that everyone has equal access to opportunities, can make the most of all the benefits of being online and no-one is left behind.
Get Online Week is from 14th to 20th October and thousands of events will take place across the UK and Australia, helping people to get more out of life online. We’re proud to be supporting this vital campaign, that is mobilising grassroots organisations to reach more people with free and friendly face-to-face digital support.
Good Things Foundation, the charity behind Get Online Week and our partner in the Digital Inclusion Alliance, is also working with key supporters across the public, commercial and voluntary sectors to raise the profile of digital inclusion as an issue of national importance.
