Our Events Calendar is now live – have a look here. A full list of upcoming events are listed by date order and users can filter by a time period. You can then select an individual event and see full details and access links to further information where available.
Do you have an event to submit?
If you have an event you would like to submit you’ll find a ‘Submit Event’ button at the top right of the page. This will open a form where you can enter full details, an image for the event and any additional documents.
Give us your feedback
This is a brand new area of the website and we will continue to make improvements to it. Please use the feedback link on the Events page to help us make changes. Your comments are really valuable.
New video update for Digital by Design
A simple animated video has been produced in-house to explain the vision behind the Council’s Digital by Design programme and give an update on progress that has been made.
The video was made primarily for Members and staff but will be of interest to anyone following the programme. It can be viewed here.
This Events Calendar looks great, thanks. However, as the list gets longer, people might find it too time consuming to go through many tens of pages looking for something interesting. I suggest the following improvements for consideration:
1 State on the listings page that the Browser’s Search or Find facilities can be used to refine the list – e.g. “enter music for musical events”. Not everyone seems to be aware of this facility.
2 Add a second filter stage to refine by area, such as by Ward (using a drop-down list).
3 Add a third filter stage to refine by type of event, again with a drop-down list. This would require a standard list of event types from which anyone entering an event would need to select so as to identify it for the filter engine.
Thank You
Hi Richard, thank you for your comments about the events calendar and we will continue to enrich the user experience on it over the next few weeks. We have recently added categories and a custom date search field to help users filter the event listings further and are planning to add a location/postcode search feature soon.
Feedback is very important to ensure we are building features users want and in the order they want them so thanks again for taking the time to send us your comments.
Regards
